The “Matter of Dissatisfaction” meeting on April 26 at the Institution of Civil Engineer in April proved to be another very popular event.
Some eighty people attended the meeting on January 30, 2001, held at The Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
A brief introduction was given by Philip Harris and Tim Willis joint convenors for the Region followed by a very interesting talk by Her Honour Judge Frances Kirkham the TCC Judge in Birmingham. The Judge chose as her theme the difficulty of the task faced by the adjudicators in dealing with the speed and unusual nature of the adjudication process without falling foul of the Courts requirements that they observe “Natural Justice”.
It was standing room only for the inaugural meeting of the Society in London on 24 May 2000.
It is now over four years since adjudication was introduced under the Housing Grants Construction & Regeneration Act 1996. When the Government brought the adjudication provisions into force it indicated that it would keep the workings of adjudication under review and introduce any changes to the legislation including the Scheme, as might be thought necessary.
As it is now 10 years since the Adjudication Reporting Centre, at Glasgow Caledonian University was launched, it was onlyfitting that on the 12th of June 2008 the launch preview of the latest ARC report was held there.
